HPE books a $1.2bn order from Vultr for AMD Helios AI racks, and raises its networking outlook

A large independent cloud is buying AMD's rack-scale AI system through HPE, and HPE lifts its Juniper savings target to $800m a year.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise said at its networking investor day on 30 September that it had secured a $1.2bn order from Vultr, which it calls the world's largest privately held cloud infrastructure company, to deploy AMD Helios AI Rack by HPE systems. Helios is AMD's rack-scale AI system, sold here inside HPE's own build.

In the same release, filed with the SEC, HPE raised its fiscal 2027 outlook for networking revenue growth to “between high teens to low-20s percent”. The release does not give the previous figure. It also lifted its target for savings from integrating Juniper Networks to $800m a year in run-rate savings by the end of fiscal 2028, up from its earlier target of at least $600m.

Rami Rahim, who runs HPE's networking business, said: “AI is reshaping the technology stack, making the network more strategic and driving significant new demand from enterprises and service providers.”

For the market, the order is a data point on demand for AMD's rack-scale product from a buyer outside the largest cloud companies. The release does not say when the racks will be delivered or how many accelerators the order covers. Reports of the hardware configuration could not be checked against HPE's newsroom page, which did not load on two attempts, so they are not repeated here, and Vultr's own announcement was not visible from here.
